Overview
Facets is an identity-driven focus, memory, and clarity app for iOS. The core app works without a Facets account, advertising, cross-app tracking, or selling personal data.
Most app data is stored locally on your device using Apple storage technologies. If you turn on iCloud Sync, Apple CloudKit syncs your Facets data through your private iCloud account. Premium Clarity features can send selected content to our AI processing endpoint so the app can generate or refine clarity pages.
Data You Create In Facets
You may create facets, tasks, habits, goals, dreams, focus sessions, journal entries, notes, voice memories, photo memories, emotion reflections, settings, and related metadata such as dates and associations between those items.
Photos and videos are selected from, or saved to, Apple Photos when you choose to use those features. Facets may store thumbnails and references so the app can show memories efficiently. Deleting a memory from Facets does not delete the original item from Apple Photos unless Apple Photos itself is used to delete it.
Local Storage And iCloud
By default, Facets saves on your device first. If you enable iCloud Sync, your Facets data may be synced to your private iCloud database using CloudKit. Apple processes that sync under your Apple Account and iCloud settings.
You can turn iCloud Sync off in Facets settings. You can also manage iCloud and Photos permissions in the iOS Settings app.
AI Clarity Features
Premium Clarity features are optional. When you ask Facets to generate or refine AI-assisted clarity content, the app sends the relevant context needed for that request to the Facets Cloudflare Worker and Google Gemini processing stack. That context may include selected journal text, memory captions, focus session summaries, tasks, habits, goals, dreams, and photo thumbnails used as evidence for the generated insight.
The Worker checks your Premium entitlement with RevenueCat before processing eligible Clarity requests. Operational AI traces are designed to use redaction in production. Development and testing environments may keep more detailed prompt/output traces so we can debug quality issues before release.
AI output can be incomplete or wrong. Do not rely on Clarity content as medical, legal, financial, therapeutic, or other professional advice.
Purchases And Subscriptions
Facets uses Apple In-App Purchase and RevenueCat to manage Premium access. RevenueCat may receive purchase receipts, product identifiers, entitlement status, app-scoped or anonymous user identifiers, country or region, IP address, and app/device metadata needed for purchase validation, fraud prevention, entitlement management, support, and subscription analytics.
Facets does not use purchase data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Diagnostics
Facets uses Sentry for crash reporting, performance diagnostics, and debugging. Diagnostic reports may include device model, operating system version, app version, stack traces, breadcrumbs, performance data, network context, and other technical details that help us find and fix bugs. Diagnostic data is not used for advertising.
Permissions
Facets asks for permissions only when a feature needs them. Camera access is used to capture memory photos. Microphone access is used for voice memories. Speech recognition may be used to transcribe voice memories. Photos access is used to pick, save, and display memory media. Notifications are used for local reminders you choose to enable.
You can revoke permissions in iOS Settings. Some related features may stop working when a permission is disabled.
Support Requests
If you email support, we receive the email address you use, the content of your message, and any screenshots, logs, or context you choose to include. We use support data to respond to you, investigate issues, improve the app, and maintain records required for security or legal reasons.
Data Sharing
We share data only with service providers needed to run Facets: Apple for App Store purchases, iCloud, Photos, device permissions, and notifications; RevenueCat for subscription management; Cloudflare for the AI backend; Google Gemini/Vertex AI for Clarity generation; Sentry for diagnostics; and Langfuse for AI quality tracing where enabled.
We require service providers to process data for the purposes described in this policy and not for Facets advertising or data brokerage.
Retention And Deletion
Local Facets data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. If iCloud Sync is enabled, data may remain in iCloud until you delete it through Facets, iCloud, or your Apple Account controls. The in-app reset flow can delete Facets data from the device and, when iCloud Sync is active and available, request deletion from the Facets iCloud container.
Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat as needed for billing, entitlement history, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, and legal obligations. Support emails and diagnostic records are retained only as long as needed for support, security, debugging, and legal obligations. AI request data is retained according to the processors' service terms and our operational settings.
Your Choices
- Use Facets without creating a Facets account.
- Disable iCloud Sync in Facets settings.
- Revoke Camera, Microphone, Speech Recognition, Photos, or Notifications access in iOS Settings.
- Delete individual memories, tasks, habits, goals, clarity pages, and other records in the app.
- Use the in-app data deletion/reset controls to remove Facets data.
- Email support@facets.app to request help with access, correction, deletion, or privacy questions.
Children
Facets is not directed to children. Clarity AI features are intended for users who are at least 18 years old. If you believe a child has provided personal data to Facets, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as Facets changes. If we make material changes, we will update this page and, when appropriate, provide notice in the app or through App Store metadata.
